10 Unique Uses for Avocado Oil - Sole Toscana

You probably know avocado oil as great for use on the hair and skin. However, this oil has various other applications that you probably didn't know about. Read on to find out why you should incorporate this oil into your life.

1 Caffeine eye serum

If you're looking for a remedy for dark circles under your eyes, get yourself some avocado oil. Infuse ½ cup of highly caffeinated ground coffee in sweet almond oil. Store in a dark and cool place for four to five days. Strain the infused oil into another jar then add a tablespoon of avocado oil. Pour the mixture into an applicator bottle. After washing your face in the morning, apply the mixture on the dark circles under your eyes to fade them over time.

2 Body scrub

To make healthy body scrub from avocado oil, mix it with brown sugar until you have a thick paste. Apart from exfoliation, this body scrub will condition your skin as well.

3 Removing squeaks

A few drops of avocado oil on hinges eliminate the annoying squeaks. Its high fat content means it stays on the joint for a long time.

4 Cuticle oil

Keeping your cuticles moisturized is vital to keeping them healthy. Avocado oil will nurture and soothe the area minus the chemicals and preservatives in conventional cuticle oil.

5 Light sunscreen

Avocado oil can provide additional protection when used in addition to your natural sunscreen. Adding the oil adds the benefit of moisture. Remember, though, that the mixture only gives lighter protection of about 5 to 10 SPF.

6 Massage oil

No need to buy expensive massage oil, add ten drops of your favorite essential oil per ounce of avocado oil and voila! A fantastic massage oil at a much lower cost than premade ones.

7 Oiling leather

Show your leather shoes some love by oiling them. We recommend starting with a leather cleaner, then applying a shoe cream or polish. Top it off with rubbing in some avocado oil using a cloth. The oil's high level of monounsaturated fats will preserve that shine much longer than shoe polish.

Note: Don't use it on light-colored leather without the cream or polish first.

8 Makeup remover

Just like coconut oil, you can use avocado oil as a cosmetics remover for your (eye) makeup. Apply a generous amount of the oil to a cotton ball or wipe, then use it as you would a regular cosmetics remover. It's gentle enough to be used on the eye area.

9 Alleviates diaper rash

Who would have thought to use avocado oil for diaper rash? It works well and is perfect for those who don't like using chemicals and creams. Apply a little bit of avocado oil on the affected area as needed. The irritation should disappear in no time.

10 Tool protector

If you want to keep your tools rust-free, avocado oil is the answer. Take out your older, non-stainless steel knives and other tools, clean them up, remove the rust, and sharpen them if needed. After they're clean, apply avocado oil on them.
