Staying thankful is one of the most recommended ways to keep yourself in a positive mindset and have a more fulfilling life. It's easy to express gratitude when everything is going well, but how can you keep the gratitude flowing all year round? One of our favorite ways to do that is through using a gratitude journal.

It doesn't have to be a lengthy, taxing exercise. We love the format that involves listing three things you're grateful for, three things that would make the day great, and your daily motto/theme song.

Here are some examples of what you could write:

I AM GRATEFUL FOR:

  • A healthy body that carries me well throughout my day
  • Spending quality time with loved ones
  • A lovely home that protects me from the elements

WHAT WOULD MAKE TODAY GREAT:

  • Doing something I love (hobby)
  • Talking to a friend
  • Setting time aside to read before bed

This is a great way to set small goals, which helps you achieve your overall goals over time.

MY MOTTO FOR THE DAY:

I am capable of achieving my goals; I have what it takes.

What can you achieve by journaling?

This practice helps you attain peace of mind and a positive, intentional mindset no matter the current circumstances in your life.

When you're at peace, it turns your focus from yourself. You're able to help others and bring light to someone's day.

Developing your journaling routine

We recommend writing in the gratitude journal first thing in the morning instead of scrolling through social media. You could also do it as you take breakfast.

Logging in at night just before you sleep helps you review the day with a wholesome perspective. Think about three amazing things that happened and something that could have made the day better. Doing this allows you to see where you could have extended more patience or been more present.

How journaling can help you be more grateful in person

When you embrace journaling, your perspective completely changes since you live in gratitude. Negative situations become lessons, learning curves, and comfort zone breakers.

When you go through your day with gratitude, you are helping others do the same, whether you know it or not.

With love,
