The winter season brings with it colds and cases of flu. It seems like you can't avoid catching a cold every few weeks.
ARE YOU TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF?
We all know the old adages; always wash your hands, double your vitamin C intake, use a hankie or tissue whenever you sneeze or cough.
But what about the toxins already in our bodies? The toxins we encounter every day find their way into our bodies through physical contact, breathing, and consumption.
Your diet might be clean, and you use all-natural products, but there are pollutants in the air, in our water, and in the plastics we encounter.
THE TOXINS AROUND US
If you're a city dweller, you probably encounter some degree of smog (sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons).
The plastic packaging used for food, beauty products, and bottled water contains lots of toxins such as phthalates, bisphenol-A (BPA), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). They contribute to cancer, hormone imbalance, and other health hazards.
A detox for your body and spirit
Removing toxins from our bodies eliminates any strains on our systems and keeps us functioning efficiently.
Here are some of our recommended detox baths that you can include in your lifestyle:
Clay detox bath
Bentonite clay promotes skin health by binding to heavy metals and pulling them out of your skin. It also encourages blood circulation throughout the body and kills harmful bacteria.
- ½ cup bentonite clay
- ½ cup Epsom salt
- Calming essential oils of your choice
Add the essential oils and Epsom salts to your warm or hot bath water. Epsom salt also removes toxins from your body and replenishes magnesium levels.
How to include bentonite clay in your bath:
You can either mix the bentonite with water in a non-metal bowl until the mixture is smooth and then it to your bath. Alternatively, stand in your tub and apply the clay-water mixture on your body, let it sit, and then get in the bath.
Mustard detox bath
Mustard powder is an ancient natural remedy for colds and the flu. Its soothing properties and ability to boost circulation make it very popular. Mustard invigorates your body systems, helping your body naturally eliminate toxins.
- ¼ cup of organic mustard powder
- 1 cup of Epsom salts
- Essential oils if desired
As you run your bath, create your mixture in a bowl. Add this mixture to your water and indulge.
Mental and spiritual health
Health is holistic. As we detox our bodies, we shouldn't forget our mental and spiritual health.
To refresh your spirit, use a mantra to cleanse you of any emotional blockage, head colds, and brain fog of the winter season.
INCORPORATING YOUR MANTRA
Repeat your mantra as you physically detox your body to sync up multiple areas of wellness.
Choose a positive mantra that resonates with your personal beliefs to refresh your mind and emotions.
