Juicing: 8 Facts You Should Know - Sole Toscana

Juicing is extracting the juice from fruits and vegetables. Most people consider it a popular way to squeeze in fruits and veggies for a well-balanced diet. But this will only work if you do it right.

1. AVOID JUICING TOO MUCH FRUIT.

Fruits are great, but remember they contain lots of sugar. Consuming too much will spike your sugar levels quickly and those levels then crash quickly.  Instead, use more vegetables like celery, carrots or spinach, and then add one fruit for a bit of sweetness.

2. DRINK THE JUICE IMMEDIATELY

Fruits and veggies oxidize when exposed to oxygen. This is why some of them turn brown. Juice from fruits oxidize too, so it's best to drink it as soon as you make it.

3. JUICING RELIEVES YOUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

You can relieve your gut from heavy digestion by juicing a couple of times a week.

4. NUTRIENTS ARE ABSORBED QUICKLY.

The valuable vitamins and minerals from fruits and veggies are absorbed straight into your bloodstream.

5. WASH BUT DON'T PEEL THE VEGETABLES.

The peels of fruits and vegetables contain a lot of nutrients that the skin needs. However, some fruit peels are not very suitable for juicing, such as oranges, pumpkin, cantaloupe, lemons, limes, grapefruit, and mango. They're quite bitter, and some are too tough.

6. START YOUR MORNING WITH JUICING.

Early morning is the best time to input lots of nutrients in your body since your body is waking up from a fast. You'll reap the total benefits and feel energized for the day.

7. JUICING IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR MEALS!

If you choose to drink only juice, you won't get enough protein. Leafy greens don't offer enough to meet your body's daily needs.

8. JUICING IS NOT A DETOX.

The body has inbuilt cleansing and detoxifying mechanisms- that's what your liver and kidneys are for. So juice cleansing is a lie.

When you're juicing the right way, you enjoy plenty of benefits, and you'll know exactly what ingredients are in your juice. Many avid juicers recommend using only organic produce since non-organic food has pesticides and other pollutants. Speaking of which, shouldn't you always know the ingredients in your products?
